What’s New???

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been MIA for a minute, but I’m back! Since my last post, a lot has changed. I graduated from college!!!! Yaaaay. I attended the University of Houston- Downtown and obtained my Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. This achievement was a HUGE achievement and I’m so thankful for God’s grace that got me through each semester. This degree seriously took a sacrifice, and I never thought I would walk across the stage to shake my University President’s hand and get congratulated by him in the process, but I did. All the tears, the setbacks, the death of my son’s father, being a single mom, and unemployed didn’t stop me; I made it. Because of God I made it. My degree is more than a degree: yes, I may get a job and make a whole lot of money with it. Yes, I may walk through many doors with my degree and meet new cool people, but it’s more than all of that; it was a sacrifice that I had to go through in order to get to this place in life. It was nothing but God’s grace and mercy that kept me in school and encouraged me to keep going.

He sent people along my path to encourage me even when I got distracted. There were times parenting got too hard. I had to decide between continuing my education or tending to my child, and God made a way for me to do both. My mom stepped in and watched my child for 6 months, so I could get back on track. I was going through some deep emotional issues and I felt like giving up but thank God I didn’t. I’m stronger because I know what it feels like to fall and get back up. I’m better because the One that’s in me was for me and greater than my fears. Living for Jesus comes with benefits, and His benefits are great! I’m so happy to share this moment with the world, and I look forward to sharing what God puts on my heart with you. My encouragement to you all is: don’t give up. Human minds are so limited that we cannot see the bigger picture of our lives, so fear creeps in because we don’t know.

I know the phrase “don’t give up” may seem like a cliché but it is not. It’s more than a phrase, its fuel you will use to tell others you meet along the way to encourage them. Your journey or assignments do not end until the day you die so whatever desire is in your heart, keep pursuing God so He can bring your desires to pass. The bible says He will give you the desire of your heart, but we can’t just stop at the scripture and run with it. We have to put God FIRST. Once we pursue God, our heart will change for His heart and our desires will change for His desire so of course He will give you the desires of your heart because you are in His will. Be encouraged and know that with Christ, you can’t fail. You’ll always win because there is Greater living on the inside of you. Until next time… be blessed.
